Peptide Face Cream Guide:
Retinol + GHK-Cu + Snap-8 Routine
How to use the LA LAB Peptide Face Cream: the three actives, the AM/PM routine, introducing retinol safely, what to expect, precautions and storage. Cosmetic product — educational reference.
Face Cream Quick Start

The LA LAB Peptide Face Cream is a 30g day & night treatment built around three actives that each do a different job: Retinol renews the skin's surface, GHK-Cu (copper peptide) rebuilds collagen and elastin beneath, and Snap-8 softens the expression lines caused by muscle movement. Used morning and night as the final treatment step before moisturiser/SPF. For acne-prone skin, retinol helps renew the surface and refine the look of pores overnight while GHK-Cu's repair support helps fade the marks left by past breakouts — if you prefer a lighter, oil-free layer for oily skin or daytime, pair it with the retinol-free Face Serum.

When
Twice daily (AM & PM) — but introduce the retinol slowly (see below). Many prefer it mainly at night.
Actives
Retinol (cell turnover) + GHK-Cu (collagen & repair) + Snap-8 (softens expression lines).
Golden Rule
Because it contains retinol, always wear SPF during the day — retinol increases sun sensitivity.

The Three Actives

Retinol — Renews the Surface

A vitamin A derivative that converts to retinoic acid in the skin and binds retinoic-acid receptors, driving cell turnover and collagen production. Over time it smooths texture, refines pores and softens fine lines. It is the ingredient that needs careful introduction (see the retinol section below).

GHK-Cu — Rebuilds the Structure

A naturally occurring copper tripeptide that declines with age. It stimulates collagen and elastin synthesis and delivers copper, the cofactor for lysyl oxidase — the enzyme that cross-links and strengthens those fibres. It also supports the skin's own repair and antioxidant pathways, improving firmness and elasticity. That same repair support helps fade the marks left behind by blemishes, improving overall clarity on acne-prone skin.

Snap-8 — Relaxes the Movement

Acetyl octapeptide-3, a topical peptide often called a "Botox alternative." It is a fragment of SNAP-25 that competes within the SNARE complex the nerve needs to release acetylcholine at the muscle, gently reducing the micro-contractions that etch expression lines — topically and far more mildly than an injectable.

How to Use
01
Cleanse
Start with clean, dry skin.
02
(Optional) Serum first
Apply the LA LAB Face Serum first if using it, then let it absorb.
03
Apply a pea-sized amount
Warm a pea-sized amount between fingertips and press gently over the face and neck, avoiding the immediate eye area.
04
AM: finish with SPF
In the morning, always follow with a broad-spectrum SPF 30+. This is non-negotiable with any retinol product.
05
PM: let it work overnight
At night, it can be the final step. Overnight is when retinol and the peptides do much of their work.
Introducing Retinol Safely

Retinol is powerful but can cause dryness, flaking or mild irritation if introduced too fast. Build tolerance gradually.

WeekFrequencyNotes
Weeks 1–22 nights / weekLet skin adjust. Mild tingling is normal; strong burning is not.
Weeks 3–4Every other nightIncrease only if comfortable.
Week 5+Nightly (and AM if tolerated)Full routine once skin is comfortable.
☀️
Sun Sensitivity
Retinol makes skin more sensitive to UV. Wear SPF 30+ every day, even indoors near windows. Skipping SPF undoes the benefit and risks irritation and pigmentation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use it morning and night?
Yes, once your skin is used to the retinol — but always wear SPF in the day. Many people prefer it mainly at night and use the retinol-free serum in the morning.
Can I use it with the LA LAB Face Serum?
Yes — apply the serum first, let it absorb, then the cream. A common routine is serum + cream at night, and serum + SPF in the morning.
Is it safe in pregnancy?
No — avoid retinol during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Use the retinol-free Face Serum instead during that time.
Is it good for acne-prone skin?
It can help blemish-prone skin: retinol renews the surface and refines the look of pores overnight, and GHK-Cu supports repair to help fade the marks breakouts leave behind. It is a rich treatment cream, so if your skin is very oily or you want a lightweight daytime layer, the oil-free Face Serum is the better oil-control option — many use the serum by day and the cream at night. Introduce the retinol slowly, always wear SPF, and note this is a cosmetic product, not a treatment for acne.
My skin feels dry at first — is that normal?
Mild dryness or flaking when starting retinol is common. Slow down to 2 nights a week, use a plain moisturiser, and build up gradually.
